In Soho's new Ham Yard precinct is My Cup of Tea, a tea boutique specialising in exquisitely crafted teas and tisanes.
Offering a very contemporary celebration of tea culture, its selection of teas, interior design and refined modern aesthetic is simply inviting. Caddies and apothecary jars line with walls with customers being encouraged to smell and taste the teas on offer. Herbal blends of mint and chamomile, orange blossom and verbena are displayed alongside varieties of teas such as 2nd flush darjeeling and Grand Yunnan. Tea can be brought loose or in pre-prepared muslin tea bags. There is a small selection of handmade tea cups and bowls. For any tea connoisseur, you'll find it to be your cup of tea. We're back on the road this weekend, returning to old haunts and enjoying the nostalgia of visiting familiar streets of N1. We were delighted to discover Pistachio & Pickle Dairy - a store specialising in British artisan and world cheeses in Islington's Camden Passage. This is the perfect store - quaint, offering only a select offering of seasonal cheeses as well as pickles and chutneys, breads and biscuits including the truly moreish cheese toasties as pictured above. Perfect addition to Camden Passage.
Address: 6 Camden Passage N1 8ED. Tel. 020 7354 0656 Opening hours: Tues - Fri (11.00 - 19.00); - 7pm; Sat (10.00 - 18.00); Sun (11.00 - 17.00). Incredible Edible Lambeth is committed to making healthy, sustainable, locally produced food available to everyone living in Lambeth. We have long been fans of the quirky aesthetic of James Ward but a return visit to his studio just off Brick Lane this weekend reminded us of just how fabulous these plates are. Our favourite - this delightfully urbane bear with a gourmand appetite. Jimbobart, 24 Cheshire St E2 6EH. (Click on the plate above to see their selection.)
We started gearing up for our next 24/7 London guide: the only guide that a Londoner would write. We avoid the tube, navigate the streets with a flourish and flair, create detours and discover things that even surprise us. So where have we been? Well, this weekend we hit the streets of the East End starting in the Dickensian maze of Spitalfields, before moving onto Brick Lane, Shoreditch and beyond. For a taste of what's ahead, try and guess where we've been by the photographs above.
