On the seventh day of Christmas, we ate PIE: mince pie, hunters pie, game keepers pie, pork pie, wild boar, chicken & ham pie. We always head to London Borough Market for its trio of pie makers - Mrs King’s Pork Pies, Ginger Pig, and Sillfield Farm for our Christmas fill. All respective winners of Great Taste and British Pie Awards. Our favourite for Christmas is a festive game pie topped with cranberries. Delicious.
On the sixth day of Christmas fare, we drank GIN. London gin from Little Bird. This small batch gin is made in Peckham Rye in south-east London. Perfect alone, as a G&T or a Rhubarb Robin Negroni made with 20ml Little Bird Gin, 20ml Campari, 20ml Martini Rosso, and 3 drops Rhubarb Bitters. Stir the ingredients with ice and strain over ice. (Recipe courtesy of Little Bird.) You'll find Little Bird at Maltby Street market.
