For this week's weekend inspiration, we go State-side as we've just arrived back from NYC. Union Square Market is one of our all time favourite markets not simply for the quality of produce on offer but its food philosophy. This truly inspirational farmers' market has been around since 1976 offering a harvest of produce from local farmers and food artisans. Among its many stalls, we sampled and discovered a bounty of seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and meats, farmstead cheeses, breads and jams, honey and maple syrup, wine and cider. The flagship market of Greenmarket, this is a market truly dedicated to supporting local farmers and bringing seasonal produce and educational food programmes to provide "all New Yorks with fresh healthy local and affordable produce".
Address: North and West sides of Union Square Park. To learn more about Greenmarket, its mission and markets across NY, click here Watch out for our forthcoming photo essay/ article in Food&_ on this market and some of the producers that make it so special.
