DAN Calladine is a man in the know. As the founder of London Pop-Ups, his website is the go-to-source for all that is new and exciting in London. When we spoke to Dan over two years ago, he shared with us his thoughts on how social media has transformed the urban food landscape, the concentration of food entrepreneurism in parts of London, and for him, what makes a great pop-up event. Since interviewing Dan, his site has only continued to grow. In our view, he is the authority on pop-ups in London. In this reprinting of our My London interviews in the lead up to London's very own Urban Food Fortnight, we wanted to re-share this interview with Dan. You can read it here.

IN the run-up to Urban Food Fortnight, we are getting nostalgic here at LFE and revisiting the food artisans, producers and entrepreneurs that we have had the pleasure of interviewing over the last two and a half years. Today, we re-publish our interview with Connor Friesen. We stumbled upon Connor at Lassco at famed Maltby Street Market selling his pure deliciousness chocolates. We liked his literary take on chocolate and of course the flavours. You can read our interview with Connor here.
SEVERAL months ago, I was approached by Gestalten to be a potential contributor to their planned book on maps. They had discovered Livi Gosling's beautiful illustrations of our food walks and were keen to learn more about the project. Today, I have heard that our project with Livi's illustrations will appear in Mind the Map: Graphic Design & Illustration to be released in late September 2015. This is incredibly exciting news for London Food Essentials and Livi. I include the details below and will publish our specific pages very soon.
Mind the Map: illustrated Maps and Cartography Maps speak a universal language and make the world accessible. A follow-up to our best-selling publication A Map of the World, this book features the cutting-edge of creative contemporary cartography. Whether sketched on a napkin or generated from complex data, maps are a fascinating expression of contemporary visual culture. Their styles may range from simple to intricate and restrained to vivid, but all maps unlock the world and make it more accessible. In our age of omnipresent satellite navigation systems, personal interpretations of our surroundings are gaining in importance. Today, the craftsmanship of cartographers and the distinct visuals of map illustrators are increasingly valued by both professional designers and a growing community of those passionate about maps. Editors: Antonis Antoniou, Robert Klanten, Sven Ehmann Release Date: September 2015 Format: 24.5 x 33 cm Features: Full color, hardcover, 288 pages Language: English ISBN: 978-3-89955-588-2 In the lead up to London's Urban Food Fortnight, we thought that we would do a small retrospective of the food artisans, producers and artisans that we have met over the last two and a half years. Our first interview was with Kath Dickerson in May 2013, whom we stumbled upon at her pop-up in Brixton. We were so taken by her passion and enthusiasm for baking that she became our first interview for the My London series. You can read our interview with Kath here.
